This is a straight forward route but once you get on the A515 it becomes very dangerous. many people have lost their lives on this road in the last five years or so. Just be very careful on the acute bends.

Much safer and more pleasant to keep to National Cycle Network Route 68 which takes you on well surfaced greenways and minor roads between Mickleover and Ashbourne. It is well signed all the way from the centre of Derby and joins the Tissington Trail in Ashbourne.
Also easier to cycle North to South as it is then mostly downhill.

A good ride but avoid the A515 a very dangrous road. I went from Derby to Buxton using the A6 (A much safer road)and had to join the A515 for the last 3 miles.

You have to do this route south to north but beware of the climb from Ashford In The Water to Taddington. Have fun :0)

Keep off the A515. The Monsal Trial is soon to be opened to link Bakewell with Buxton on cinder. May 2o11. Take the A6 to Bakewell and make it to Buxton alive.
