Cycle Steps
This is a road route, on a mix of A, B and country roads, with a final workout hill to finish, making it a good
The route initially follows the A1081 through Harpenden town and then diverts left into Roundwood Lane, heading for Harpenden Rural. From here to Caddington is all on windy country lanes. The route goes through Harpenden Rural and Kingsborne Green, under the M1, through Slip End and Woodside and into Caddington. From Caddington continue to follow the country lanes through the hamlet of Aley Green and past Woodside Animal Farm at the B4540 T junction. Turn right onto the B4540 and follow this to the A5 T junction at Markyate. Turn left onto the A5, heading through Markyate and on till the M1 junction. The A and B raods from Markyate give the oportunity to up the average speed. Go under the M1 and onto the A5183. Follow this to the roundabout and turn left onto Redbourne Lane, B487. Redbourne Hill is a good final workout hill as you get close to the finish. Follow the B487 through Hatching Green and back to the start.
My aim is to do this in an hour. I'm still 7 mins slow at the time of posting this.
