I did this route on Sunday, in glorious sunshine. I am not from the area, so found it easier to park at the Reservoir Visitor Centre, as opposed to in the town, as there is free parking and toilets to change into my gear (the Centre is also great for picking up snacks and for interesting information about the wildlife in the area if you have time to look around). There is a donations box which is a good idea, they ask for £2. So, I missed out a little bit of the route above, but I tracked my progress on my iPhone and the full circuit minus the 'tail' was only 7.6miles, so I'm not sure if I was supposed to do it twice or not as the commentary above say 15miles!! On second viewing I note the red markers indicate about 8 miles which is correct, so the online team just need to update this as its a little misleading. The route is relatively easy, there are a couple of long hills, nothing too strenuous. Unfortunately very little of the route actually runs right by the reservoir, but the countryside is picturesque, which kept me happy. There are 2 pubs on the route - The 3 Compasses in West Hanningfield and the other one is just near the Visitor Centre (if you do the loop clockwise) - I think it was called The Windmill. All in all it was an enjoybale ride out, but I was slightly disappointed it was so short

Helpful info (I hope);

The route took me 39 minutes including a 5 minute rest in West Hanningfield - I'm a keen cyclist but by no means a fast one

The Reservoir Visitors Centre is well sign-posted from most directions, but for ease it is on Hawkswood Road, near the red marker above the 'Downham' place name on the site map

I hope this review is helpful. Happy cycling!
