Although there are a number of routes going downhill from East Kilbride to Glasgow, the climb back uphill is a different task altogether.

This route starts with nice level ride alongside the River Clyde, followed by a fairly steady climb through Blantyre to achieve the 700 ft elevation up to East Kilbride, without any killer hills.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
This route will take you through Glasgow Green and then along the Clyde passing within a stones-throw of Celtic Park.
Watch out for the building works for the new motorway extension - a considerable detour away from the river is in place.
Near the Glasgow centre end of the route is Billy Bisland cycles - a smaller shop, but very friendly and helpful.
