From Ambleside head to Hawkshead. From their follow road on west side of Esthwaite water and head to Haverthwaite. from here follow B road to Cark. Head bnorthwest to Cartmel. Call in the shop for your sticky toffee pudding :) yum! Then follow lanes across coutry to create loop back to Haverthwaite. Head to Bouth, Spark Bridge, Lowick Bridge. Shortly after hitting the main road here, a right turn takes you to the actual bridge (tiny) and you can follow the back road north along the east aide of Coniston water avoiding the A road. towards the end of the lake, a mile or so after Brantwood heads obliuquely off to the right and head up to meet Hawkshead hill road. This cuts off some of the uphill which you would do if you were starting from Coniston. After the hill you enjoy the down hill into Hawkshead, and return to Ambleside via the same route you came out on. | |
