looking for a circular road route round Scotland.

depends if you want to go full on, or roughly round the coast

the complete road route is 1,700 miles (one thousand, seven hundred!)

sounds cheeky, but basically, keep the sea on your left (clockwise) or on your right (anticlockwise)

use the ferries to get onto Arran, Mull & Skye.

you could add in the Outer Hebrides too (additional to the 1,700 miles)


get a map, and take all the outer-most roads and you will have circumnavigated the Country. Add in the dead ends to Cape Wrath, Applecross etc. if you're feeling energetic!


depending on how fit you are, 100 miles a day is do-able.

West Coast is the hardest. big ups and big downs, but the best scenery by far.

I've done Oban up to Lochinver via Mull & Skye, but not the rest!

That is something I would really love to do one day, I figure I would need to take a month off work to do it, which is possible but my fitness level is not nearly there yet. Looking to do my first 50 mile ride this weekend, but maybe one day...
