29 inch mountain bikes

Joined: 06 Apr 2010 Posts: 50 Bike: My Profile | Hi all, I'm looking at a new bike and im keen on the 29 inch ones. any comments, who has one? I've been to my local bike shop and they have recommended a marin bolinas and a saracen kili but i cant seem to find any reviews. Don't want to jump so any advice/help would be great. Thanks Tim |

However on the test ride it rolled over things and covered ground really easily. Still tempted but I think it will have to go on my very wishful Xmas List, cost was £2,000 plus. Pretty sure Giant dual a front sus only which has had good reviews. |

Joined: 21 Apr 2011 Posts: 85 Bike: My Profile | Hi, all the main bike manufacturers have 29er;s in there line up, ie trek, cube, specialized. Iam looking at the cube LTD 29er at £899 air fork, 30speed, and at specialized as more of the range is now a 29er. so plenty of choice, and going to a 29er is the way to go. Good luck in your hunt. |

Joined: 21 Apr 2011 Posts: 85 Bike: My Profile | GO for 2013 models as frame, geometry are getting sorted, avoid early models ie 2011, as improvements are much better, you can always try for a demo. Keep in mind that a 26 at the price you want to pay will be better spec and near perfect. I will still keep my 26 as it is a good bike, but i would keep to main brands, and a bike that you can upgrade as parts wear out. |

Joined: 16 Jul 2012 Posts: 7 Bike: My Profile | I have just downgraded as I do not do anywhere near the mtn biking I should have done with a full suss. Whilst looking I had a lot of people saying all good things about 29ers - they cover ground quicker and seem to take more in their stride than maybe a 26 wheel would. The only thing I would suggest (if you haven't done so already) is make sure you spec the groupset, brakes etc carefully. Happy shopping. |
