I've already gone coast-coast Europe by following the Rhine south then over the Alps to end in Venice. I later discovered there is an established European shipping link west - east linking the Rhine to the Danube. I would like to ride the route in sections, say one week at a time. This year (September) I'd like to link Frankfurt with Munich via Nuremburg. If the weather is good enough I usually cycle / camp and do about 50 miles / day. Anybody interested?

What is the total distance of the ride? Sounds amazing, unfortunately I do not think I am experienced enough yet to join you though.

Charlie, the total route is somewhere around 2 500 km, but I've cycle the Rhine already so my start this time is Mainz (near Frankfurt), heading east to link to the Danube. Total coast - coast would take about 5 weeks, so I'm trying to do weekly sections, eg Frankfurt - Munich, then Munich - Vienna, etc. Look for a book called Jack de Crow by Sandy McKinnon. He reached the Black Sea on a little boat, and he started from Shrewsbury.
