Newcastle to Whitehaven by train

I've booked a train from Newcastle to Whitehaven but as you're unable to reserve a space for your bike and only two bikes per train allowed I'm concerned I may not get to the start on time. Does anyone have any experience with getting their bikes to Whitehaven via train? Mark. |
