Sunderland (from University Metro) to Newcastle (Central Train Station)

Anyone got the specifics on a route I could take for this journey? I am new to cycling between Sunderland and Newcastle and if there is anyone else that has done or is doing this route I would love to here from you! Thank you!

Hi there. First question would be whether you are cycling principally on roads? Then is it in rush hour or off peak? Do you want to get there leisurely or quickly?
As a starting point you can get several cycle route maps free from the local councils. Phone them up and they will be happy to send you theirs and possible others around the area free of charge. The maps cover all the North East Vouncil areas so they include Tyne Wear.

Thank you so much bagpiperay! (cool name btw hihi). I don't suppose you know Sunderland well or if you're aware of any bike clubs either? I'm really interested in joining other keen cyclists in the area to ride the C2C route and some others i've seen that are so scenic! I'm originally from London but go to university in Sunderland so i'm not too familiar with the North East in general! I'd so love to hear from you again if you can help me find a group :D Thank you for replying again!

Ah...P.S. the council were very helpful and I have my cycle maps in the post apparently (here they are far quicker to answer questions than some councils i've got in touch with before -_-). But, from what i know it is a combination of off road, A roads (A690 i believe - i have been warned about this haha) and some pretty nice, flat, downhill roads. Just thought i'd actually answer your questions hihi!

Hi Frankieno1, did you get sorted with a route?. I live in Washington and do most of the c2c around this area. Also we have some good clubs that ride out at the weekend. What bike do you have, road or off road.
