I am wanting to do a ride from Lymington ,through the new forest to Southampton. Can anyone tell me if 1] there's a cycle track or 2] the safest road way please. Thank you. Ray. |

As you live on Isle of Wight you must be fairly familar with area I would suggest look a google maps. As a roadie myself it would not bother me at all doing this route there are cycle tracks in various places along this route. I ride the New Forrest a lot but anyone who thinks you can switch off just bcause your in New Forrest well i would suggest stay alert at all times as there are people who use it as a rat run, tourist, bikers who think they are Carl Foggarty (and bikesr before you start jumping down my neck I ALSO RIDE MOTORCYCLES)and have done for many a year. Just plan your journey Ray you will be ok. |

We parked the car in Keyhaven and road into Lymington, then over to the ferry terminal - then following the road towards Sowley Lane, then onto towards Beaulieu. Go through the village on the main road - a bit busy but okay, go up the main hill. At the top take the right towards Exbury Gardens. following Summer Lane all the way into the Lepe Country Park. Nice cafe and toilets! Then going up the hill its a straight ride up towards Southhampton. Note as you near Southampton the A326 road does get busy. We did stop at Hythe - locked up the bikes and took a small ferry into Southhampton as footpassengers - fantastice views of the ships and docks! Hope this helps! Stay safe. Dale |
