The county of Tyne and Wear is situated in the North East of England and was founded in 1974. The area includes the boroughs of Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, and the City of Sunderland. The county offers a fantastic choice of museums and art galleries as well as the Sea to Sea Cycle Route which starts or ends in Tyne and Wear offering 140 miles of crossing the North England Pennines and the Lake District. Another attraction to see would be the impressive Angel of the North sculpture in Gateshead.
