Cycle Steps
Start on the cycle path through Tooting Common, under the railway bridge and out onto Cavendish Road. Follow the road through the back streets of Balham and up the hill towards Clapham South. After the traffic lights, and as the road curves to the left, turn off right onto Abbeville Road. Go past the shops and cafe's and turn left onto Narbonne Avenue. Follow the road up the hill until you reach the common. Cross main road, A24, and join the cycle track on the other side of the road and follow it through the common. Turn left on to Windmill Drive and then a few metres later turn right on to the cycle route across the main common. When you reach the edge of the common cross Clapham Common North Side, A3, and cycle down Cedars Road, A3216. Follow it down as it turns into Queenstown Road, still A3216. Follow the road until the Queens Circus roundabout and go straight across, staying on the A3216. Follow Queenstown Road over Chelsea Bridge and then turn right on to Grosvenor Road, A3212. After a few hundred metres turn left on to Lupus Street and follow it all the way until you pass Pimlico Tube, where it becomes the A3213. Follow this round to the right onto Vauxhall Bridge Road, then immediately turn left onto John Islip Road, B326. Follow this past the Tate Britain. Turn left on to Marsham Street. Follow Marsham Street past the Home Office and then as the road turns into Great Smith Street, B326. At the end of Great Smith Street turn right onto the A302 and you are at Westminster Abbey.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
The route takes you through Clapham Common and down the hill towards Battersea and the River. You cross the Thames at the Chelsea Bridge with Battersea Power Station on your right. Then its on through historic Pimlico and into Westminster, past the Department for Transport, Home Office and Department for Education before emerging next to your destination Westminster Abbey.
