The historic county of Suffolk is situated in East Anglia in England. The area was inhabited by the Angles in the 5th Century who named it the kingdom of East Anglia. The county's coast and heaths are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as it is low-lying arable wetland with salt marshes, reed beds, shingle beaches and a low cliff coastline that is eroding due to it's chalky rock. Suffolk is home to the town of Newmarket where the headquarters of British horseracing is based, and the Port of Felixstowe which is the largest container port in Britain and one of the largest in Europe.
