A lovely country-roads ride through some of Gainsborough's inspirational home turf. Start at the Henny Swan pub, though there are many others en-route, plus Spencer's Farm shop and Tea Rooms at Wickham St Paul. This route is more hilly than you might expect.

Just to let any prospective riders know that the pubs in Henny Street (the Henny Swan) and Pebmarsh (the King's Head) are now closed, probably permanently.

This is still a lovely ride, though you might like to change your start/finish to the Lamarsh Lion. If your lift is into kayaking, however, the Henny Swan car park is still open and gives access to the river Stour so they can paddle away while you're on your ride!

Further info on the pub situation: The Henny Swan will reopen in August 2010!, and the King's Head at Pebmarsh is now for sale, so could possibly reopen too.

This is a great ride and lots of options after leaving Bures. I'd recommend a start finish in Sudbury as there are plenty of car parks (in particular near the Quay Theatre) and then you can head in to the Secret Garden in Friars Street for a coffee at the finish!

Heading out in an hour to check out the new Henny Swan.
