| This route starts at Sittingbourne Station and takes part of the National Cycle Route One. Tried to keep it mostly coastal but a word to the wise, the coastal route is very windy in either direction. It can make it very hard going. Come out of Sittingbourne Station and turn left, follow the A2 for a small way and turn left towards Tonge Road. Turn right onto Tonge Road and follow it through Teynham and onto Faversham Come out the other side of Faversham and follow the road for Graveney. Make sure you don't end up on the Thanet Way! Turn left onto Head Hill Road towards Graveney/Seasalter. Once through Seasalter follow the route Whitstable Main Road and up Tower Hill. It's from here that you can see on the route that the mostly coastal path begins. That will take you through Herne Bay, Birchington, Margate then Joss Bay and all the way into Broadstairs. Once you get on the coastal path in Whitstable as long as you keep the sea on your left and close to it you cant go wrong! Have fun! John |
