Cycle Steps
This is a pleasant road route, mainly on country lanes, but with a couple of main roads, that has a few hills after Elstead going towards Seale and Puttenham. Although I have not cycled for over a year, I didn't find this route too ardous.
Head south on the B3000 and turn right, off the B3000 onto Hook Lane, heading for Shackleford. Follow the road through Shackleford and on to the T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto Elstead Road. Follow the road under the A3, where it becomes Hurtmore Road, and on through Hurtmore. The road then swings left by the golf course and sharp right.
Continue to follow the road as it goes towards Francombe, then swings right to become Charterhouse Road. This in turn swings left and becomes Chalk Road. On Chalk Road, head under the railway bridge and on till the A3100 roundabout.
At the roundabout, turn right onto Bridge Road, A3100, and follow this through Godalming to the roundabout on the outskirts of Milford.
At the Milford roundabout, where the A3100 goes right, go left onto Church Road, A286. Follow this to the next roundabout.
At the roundabout, turn right, off the A286 and onto Cherry Tree Road, A283. Follow this to the T junction, where you turn right onto Portsmouth Road, still A283. Follow the A283 as it swings left off Portsmouth Road. Follow the A283 up to the A3 slip road roundabout.
At the roundabout go straight across, over the A3 to the next roundabout, then turn left, past the slip road off the A3, off the A283 and onto Elstead Road, B3001. Follow the B3001 through Elstead and out on the Farnham Road.
Turn right, off the B3001 onto Seale Road, heading for Seale. Follow the road to the T junction in Seale.
At the junction, turn right onto Puttenham Road, and follow this through Puttenham to the B3000 T junction. Turn right onto Puttenham Heath Road, where you started from.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Spar shop and The Mill pub at Elstead and The Good Intent, great village pub in Puttenham to finish of the ride.
