Cycle Steps
NOT FOR BEGINNERS, but intermediates and up will benefit from a good work out!

Warm up from start along Pampisford Rd. Turn right past Whitgift School playing fields, which takes you down to traffic lights on the busy Brighton Rd.
Turn right and follow my short zigzag route to the mini-roundabout and go right into Croham Rd, sign posted to Selsdon.
THE CLIMB STARTS HERE.
Just follow the bus route, Croham Rd/Croham Valley Rd/Farley Rd to the traffic lights at Selsdon. Now go right into Addinton Rd (A2022), passing Sainsbury, Selsdon Library and the main entrance to Selsdon Park Hotel.(Cycle Lane here!)
The climb now continues up to Sanderstead Church and pond. Here go right at the roundabout, a fast descent down Sanderstead Hill(B269). Shortly take a left into the aptly named Purley Downs Rd!
Under the railway bridge at the bottom, and go right at mini-roundabout.
Follow my zigzag at the one way system by the Royal Oak Centre, and as soon as you join the main Brighton Rd do not miss the left turn, and another immediate left, into Montpelier Rd. A stiff climb now and follow the zigzag into Kingsdown Ave.
Now it is a flat road, straight over the mini roundabout at Pampisford Rd, straight on at the traffic lights at the Purley Way and at the end of Highfield Rd, left and immediate right. Big speed humps here in the Bridle Rd!
NOW PERHAPS A SHORT TEMPO RIDE TO FINISH.
Turn right into Foxley Lane (A2022), a cycle lane and gentle uphill to the mini roundabout. Left into Smitham Bottom Lane (A237) and then 2nd left into Woodcote Valley Rd.
Get the cadence up and spin on this final downhill, and back to the start point at Purley Library.
Well done!
