Cycle Steps
1. This is an incredible route, simple, but just some breath taking scenery around you in Annan Valley. Leaving Moffat along the high street heading south on the A708. Turn right onto Old Carlisle Road signposted Newton Wamphray.
2. Cycle south noticing Coxhill Farm on your left where this route will finish. Cross Moffat Water and keep heading south through Woodhead not turning off the road at any point. There are a few moderate climbs but nothing that is too difficult.
3. When you arrive in Woodhead take the first sharp hairpin right, almost doubling back on yourself. This road leads you across the M74 and eventually onto the A701.
4. Turning right onto the A701 head north for about a mile and a half following the marked cycle route signs.
5. Caution you have to be careful at this part especially if you have younger family members. Coming up to the roundabout take the 4th exit signposted Moffat. Cross back over the M74, straight over the next roundabout and then take the immediate first right .
6. This will take you past Barnhill Springs on your left. Shortly after you will cross the river Annan again, then take a left at the next T-Junction.
7. This leads you back to Coxhill Farm.
Landmarks/Sites to see?
There are plenty of things to do in Moffat, such as visiting Barnhill Springs, Moffat Baths Hall (apparently the waters of Moffat Spa were said to have healing powers, probably ideal after a cycle) and of course the famous Moffat Ram found at Colvin Fountain
