Cycle Steps
Initially head towards Cardiff on NCN Route 4, via the Lighthouse Road, B4239.
Atlantic Wharf to Cardiff Bay to pick up the Taff Trail to Nantgarw. Then pick up Route 4 again through Caerphilly back to Newport. The last 10 miles has a few steep hills. Lots of interesting things to see on route

Did this route yesterday - picked it up on the Taff Trail near Hailey Park and went anticlockwise. Took about 3.5 hours on a hardtail MTB. It was a Sunday and the Rover Way section was fairly quiet, but that bit would be busy on a weekday. Most of the rest of the loop is either on quiet lanes or on proper cycle tracks. Some beautiful rolling countryside around the Draethen area. In fact it's very picturesque nearly all the way around, including Caerphilly Castle. I actually preferred this ride to the Brecon to Cardiff ride that I did last week - much more to look at. Will therefor be doing this one again.

This is suitable for road bikes. I did it again last Saturday and the route is well signed with no problems on the road/path surfaces. Great coffee stop in Trethomas The Rock Cafe
