| Discovered this on an organised skyride event. Starts and ends at civic centre wythenshawe with lots of shops and good parking. Route takes you around the outer perimeter of manchester airport, through the tunnels under the two runways, close to styal country park, along a path running extremely close to the runway, down some country lanes and back past heald green (with train station and bike shop) before returning to civic centre. Route takes you very close to the airport aviation park (free access to cyclists) at approx half way and past at least four pubs with beer gardens. about 65% cycle path, 10% road/pavement, 10% quiet country lanes, 15% hard gravel/trails. suitable for all level of riders including children although their are some road junctions to cross at times. Section between tunnels and styal village not really suitable for road bikes but alternative route can be found |
