| Lincoln to Leicester 61 miles / 98km From the University of Lincoln, pass Debenhams (on your right) and turn right at the traffic lights to join the High Street. Follow the road out of the city centre, heading south and bearing slight left in Bracebridge to pick up Brant Road. Follow Brant Road/Low Road/Broughton Road to reach the village of Brant Broughton. Continue south, crossing A17 (Care required!) to Stragglethorpe and continue to Brandon and Hougham. In Hougham turn right following the signs to Long Bennington. There is a village shop in Long Bennington. Follow signs to Bottersford, which takes you out of Long Bennington, over the A1 and into Bottersford. There is a minor train station in Bottersford, with trains to Nottingham and Grantham. Leave Bottersford along Belvoir Road (signed to Belvoir Castle), crossing the A52 (Care required!) to stay on Belvoir Road. Continue southwest along Long Lane (great views of Belvoir Castle and the hills to your left) to Harby, Hose, Long Clawson and Neither Broughton. In Neither Broughton, head left, briefly on A606, to follow Old Dalby Lane to Saxelby and then signs for Asfordby. Just before village turn right at T-junction onto the A6006 (Care required!) and then first left (Loughborough Rd) and immediate right onto Hoby Road. Follow Hoby road to Hoby. Continue to Thrussington, where left to Rearsby and East Goscote. Continue on Melton Road, crossing the A607 roundabout. You are now in the built up area of Leicester and care should be taken. Pick up the A607 (Melton Road) towards Leicester city centre. Take a left at Gipsy Lane and follow road to meet junction with A6030. Turn right onto A6030 (Victoria Road E) and follow road round to cross roads with A47 (Uppingham Road). Turn right onto Uppingham Road and then left at St Barnabas Road (B6416). Continue on the B6416, which becomes E Park Road, Beckingham Road and Mayfield Road before arriving at a roundabout. Turn right onto London Road (A6) and follow past De Montfort Hall on your left. Turn left at University Road and continue to the University of Leicester on you left hand side. CATEGORY: MEDIUM This road ride is approximately 61 Miles and predominantly flat. An experienced and fit cyclist will have a ride time of approximately 3hrs 45m (16.3mph). |
