Cycle Steps
This is a road route, mainly on quiet urban and country roads, with some hilly bits but nothing too hard. However, take care on the back roads, as there are sharp bends and blind spots to negotiate.
Starting in Meadow Sweet Road, turn left at the A179 roundabout heading towards Hart. Follow the A179 past Hart, or go through if you wish as you come back to the A179, and then turn left, off the A179 onto Worset Lane.
Follow Worset Lane to the crossroads and turn right, heading for Dalton Piercy. Follow the road through Dalton Piercy, then take the first left, before the A19, onto Dalton Back Lane. Follow the road to the A689 T junction.
At the junction, turn left onto the path that runs parallel to the A689. Follow this to the outskirts of Owton Manor, where the path turns left to go through the houses.
Follow the path to Calcote Road and turn right. Follow Calcote Road through Owton Manor and past West Hartlepool Ruby Club. Contiue straight on as the road becomes Elwick Road and swings left. It then turns off right to go past Hartlepool Cricket Club and continues till the roundabout.
At the roundabout, turn right, off Elwick Road onto Dunston Road. Follow the road as it swings gently right and then turn left onto Tarnston Road. Follow this, as it swings right, to the T junction. At the junction turn left onto Hart Lane and follow this to the roundabout.
At the roundabout turn right onto Goldfinch Road and follow this as it becomes Merlin Way. Go through the roundabout and then take the left turn back onto Meadow Sweet Road and back to the start point.
