This clockwise circular route is mostly easy riding but does have a few short hills, the most difficult of which will be found leaving Castle Hedingham. The only parts where traffic might be heavy is Halstead itself (obviously) and the 1.8 mile southbound stretch on the A131 from Bulmer Tye.

Please note that part of the route is on a semi-rough track (from Butler Road, Halstead to the A1124. Most bikes should be able to cope with this track.
