This route passes mainly along quiet country roads, especially south of Halstead where you will find your journey punctuated by some charming cottages. However, there are some main roads to negotiate.

As you would expect in this region, there are a few hills, the longest being the (southward) climb up Tidings Hill in Halstead. I think the clockwise journey is a tad easier than going anticlockwise, although this opinion is probably completely subjective.
