| The circular route is mostly off-road along Bridle Ways and the Forest Way. The main hill is at the start up Wall Hill to Ashurst Wood (past the tree where the last highwayman to be hung was strung up!). Turn right at the Ashurst Wood War memorial then straight on taking the right fork in the road. At the radio mast the road peters out and it becomes a track though the woods - one short section just after the woods can very muddy and after rain. On reaching the road keep on straight till you reach the Hartfield road T junction. Turn left for a few hundred yards and after a bend take the bridle way on the right (just after a house). The track leads up a hill with a gate to go round at the top. At the bottom of the hill take a sharp left (the Bridle way also goes right). On reaching the road at the top turn right down the hill to Balls Green. Then pick up the Forest Way all the eay back to Forest Row. |
