This is an undulating road route, on a mix of A and B roads and country lanes.
The route starts on a gradual easy climb out of Eccleston for a couple of miles. There is a sharp descent into Appley Bridge, followed by a short climb again into Shevington.
The descent into Gathurst would be fun, if it wasnt for the traffic lights at Gathurst. This also means a standing start on a sharp incline, which is very aggresive at first.
The odd plateau gives some respite as you wind up to Dalton, then its a speedy confidence tester down to Newby Bridge. All that left now is the grind of Parbold hill, which can test you, and a nice blast down the A49 to flush out your legs. |
