Starting at Dore station (services from Sheffield,Manchester,Leeds etc). Head towards Dore village which sits on the endge of Sheffields wooded hills and the Peak District National Park.

The steady climb up towards Fox House (old coaching station). A short downhill stretch to Toads Mouth gives an opportunity to catch your breath before the 2 Mile incline passing the stone age fortress on your right and a 12th Century shooting lodge on your right before rounding the Surprise Corner. fantastic vews over the Hope Valley are now in front of you, as the long down hill takes you down the valley side and into the popular village of Hathersage(shops,B&B).

The road undulates through the vally bottom towards Castleton which is famous for Blue John and its mines and Pevril Castle. Leaving Castleton via Winatts Pass the gradient throgh the pass is so steep even the hardiest bikers will be pushing and stopping to catch there breath. With the Pass behind you Chapel-en-le-Frith now lies a steady ride away as the roud rollows the contours of the valley side and the long down hill into the Town. Great vews along the way.

Chapel is a busy town, well serviced with shops etc, and rail link to Stockport and Buxton. Leaving Chapel and heading for Whaley Bridge the short distance along the valley bottm is easy going
