1. This is a VERY hard ride.
This road route takes in all the major passes in the lake district, starting and finishing in Cockermouth.
After the first climb of Whinlatter Pass head right at the bottom to take in Newlands Pass, dropping down into Buttermere then the tough climb up the valley to the top of Honister Pass.
Back up into Keswick for some refreshment then along the A66 before turning right to drop down to Ullswater.
Head up Kirkstone Pass then turn right at the top to go down The Struggle into Ambleside then follow the road out to Little Langdale before starting the climb of Wrynose Pass and Hardknott Pass.
Follow the road out to Gosforth and Calder Bridge before taking the quieter roads up to Ennerdale Bridge then join the A5086 back up into Cockermouth.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Great views from the top of Hardknott Pass.
Good food in Keswick and Ambleside.
