This is a road route, that although it starts and ends on A roads, is mainly on country roads, with some lovely country villages and a couple of good climbs.
The route initially heads through Crewkerne and out on the A30 through Roundhams Foot. You then turn right, onto country roads, up through Hinton St George, Lopen, Lopenhead and under the A303 to South Petherton.
The return leg leaves South Petherton on Hayes End heading to the A303 roundabout. Head straight over this and take a right and left to Over Stratton. In over Stratton go right onto South Harp and then left heading towards Merriott. At Merriott go right at the junction onto Church Street and then left at the next junction onto Broadway. This will take you through Merriottsford to Broadshard. Turn right onto the A356 and head back to the start point. |
