Cycle Steps
A loop on the western edge of Blackburn, towards Samlsbury Bottoms, Mellor, Lammack and options Witton Park.

The route is suitable for both road and mountain bikes and takes in the scenary around Houghton Tower before climbing to the top of Mellor with great views over Blackburn and the Ribble Valley and Pendle Hill.

There is minimal traffic on the majority of this route, more traffic is included on the retrn to Blackburn to the train station.

Plenty of refreshment points en route including the Spread Eagle at the top of Mellor.
This route takes me just over 2 hours on a Mountain Bike and is suitable for all abilites as long as you dont mind the odd hill.
The climb from Salmsbury Bottoms to the top of Mellor is quite long and sustained.
A good route.
