| Good route, I used it for commuting for a year or two. Best as a summer route, I would say. The towpath gets a bit hairy in winter, being narrow and muddy in places. Definitely a mountain bike route. Nice scenery and traffic free, much better than dicing on the roads between Hemel Hempstead and Watford.. | ||

| This cycle route is very flat and good for first timers wanting to ride some distance without being too strenuous. It has beautiful scenery and it is good to see the canel so busy with narrow boats. At Apsley there is a nice place to have rest and a cup of tea. | ||
