Wales Cycle Routes > Cardiff
The largest city and county in Wales. It has 317,500 people. The Romans came through and built a fort in 75 CE. After they left a small town developed and by 1327 it was an active port. By the 1800's the port was used twice a week for coal. The port is considered the 2nd largest coal port. The terrain is flat and surrounded by hills. The weather is mild, summers and winters offer a mostly dry climate. Viking influence is still found in street names although at least 90 languages are spoken today.
