| A wonderfully wild back road route with gates to open! Start at George 3rd at Pen Maen Pool and although I have routed this via road- you actually go all the way to Dolgellau on the old railway track. You then climb up steeply out of town up towards the foothills of Cader Idris. Stop at the lovely hotel by the lakes on route. then up over the mountain pass through gates and fabulous views of Mawdach valley down to your right. Then down into Llwyngwril and head north along the coast road looking down over the bay into Arthog. Then take a detour to Barmouth over the bridge for Fish and Chips at Mermaid F&C shop by the railway station -best in area by miles! Back over the bridge and up the spectacular mawddach cycle path to your start point for a quick pint by the river! the perfect day! | |
