This is a mainly flat to gently undulating, road route, with cycle lanes on the majority of the route, that provides a pleasant cardio workout with nice scenery. I am a returning cyclist of 54 y/o and I find this route exhilerating but not over stretching.
Bury Road to Deane Road is a slight incline on average, dropping down Wigan Rd to Chequerbent cross-roads for a nice free-wheel ride. Left onto an almost flat stretch to Little Hulton cross-roads, enabling you to push up into top gear "go for it". Turn left onto a gentle incline stretch into Farnworth and downhill again to Darcy Lever. The susequent climb out of Darcy is a surprise on tired legs (walked up more than once :-( ) then flat past park back to the start point. |

| Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see? |
Plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants on the way. Can stop off at Chequerbent at a Tavern Inn for lunch :-) Little Hulton Conservative club etc etc - the choice is endless. No bike shops to speak of so carry spares !
