Cycle Steps
A circular route utilising the Castleman Trail to Wimborne and on to Ringwood, then mainly quiet country lane to Christchurch and finally on to the promenade back to Bournemouth.
Follow the cycle route from Westbourne to Poole, via Baitor Park; follow signs to Poole centre at end of Baitor. Follow cycle route to Upton Country Park, then the Castleman Trailway to Wimborne (watch out for signs, not always obvious). Cyclists have to leave trail in Wimborne and follow the B3073. After roundabout crossing A31, taking road to Ferndown, look out for signs for Castleman and turn left at pub (Uddens Lane). Look out for another left turn to re-join off road route. The route from here to Ringwood is along the Castleman trail. Follow the cycle route into Ringwood at A31, which runs alongside A31 for a short way.
In Ringwood, look for signs to Bransgore to follow a very nice country road. If you miss them and end up on the main B3347 to Christchurch, take the first right turn you see, which will take you back to the much quieter and slower road to Bransgore.
As you enter Bransgore, take a right signposted to Sopley and then a left just as the houses end (400 metres). Go straight over a staggered junction at end of the lane. Follow road to Winkton and take a left on to the B3347 into Christchurch.
There's a separate cycle lane along the A35 into Christchurch.
After crossing the bridge to Southbourne, take the first left at the roundabout to Wick village (cycle route signed) and follow signs to seafront.
Then plain sailing along the promenade.
