This Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire route is one of my favourites. It is a mix of busy and quiet roads, with a good supply of watering holes along the way. On the way to the Ridge you will see loads of Red Kites soaring overhead, riding the thermals. It has two healthy climbs, the first is Chinnor Hill, which will get you heart pumping. Then you come off the ridge down a steep deceptively fast downhill. The next healthy climb is up Bullock Farm Road, a single track road with passing points, so be aware that you might need to stop or pull over. There are places where you can rattle along and others where you can take your time and absorb the wonderful views. It is never boring. Take a camera with you if you have never been along the Ridge before. This I would say is more for the experienced rider. But don't be put off if you like a challenge, a new route or the time to do it more leisurely. Expect to take between 3 to 4 hours depending on how fast you cycle.
If you do it, good luck and enjoy your ride. |

Plenty of pubs along the way but have not seen any cycle shops. You do pass the Hell Fire Caves near High Wycombe on the A40.
