DescriptionThe Campbell Room provides centrally heated accommodation for groups of up to 24 people within reach of National Cycle Route 3 and 33 and just over a mile from the start of the Coleridge Way long distance footpath. The accommodation is consists of a main hall with 18 good mattresses, two rooms sleeping 3 each, washrooms and showers, a fully equipped kitchen, and drying room. A small grassed area has room for 1 or 2 tents and a campfire. The centre is located in a sheltered rural position at the mouth of an attractive wooded valley leading to heart of the Quantock Hills. The hills were the first "Area of Outstanding Beauty" in Britain and offer many routes for walking, cycling or horse riding, with extensive views from the moorland tops. The Campbell Room is an ideal base for natural history interest, with the Quantock Forest Trail nearby and rocky beaches (for pools and fossils) within easy reach by minibus. With transport, the Centre is well placed for exploring such popular and interesting sites as Wells (a cathedral town), Wookey and Cheddar (caves), Taunton (county town, shopping), Cricket St. Thomas (wildlife park), Dunster (historic village), Exmoor (open countryside and coast) and Minehead (seaside town). The scenic West Somerset Railway (steam and diesel), which is the longest private railway in Britain, is quite close by and there is indoor swimming at Bridgwater, Taunton and Minehead.
