I here there is a bus from Cardiff that I can take my bike on? Failing that my wife will drop me off in the car or I can take the train. I will be riding a mountain bike if this helps! Regards Keith. |

I think it only ran at weekends though. If its not running try getting dropped of by car and use the Taff trail back as far as Nantgarw and then cycle up nangarw hill and join the new trail from the top of Nantgarw hill through to Cearphilly station. The first part of the Taff trail takes you over the Brecon Beacons, which can be along slog. but then after Merthyr it follows old railway bed and is a very pleasant ride all the way down the Taff Ely Valley. I am not sure of the exact route from the top of Nantgarw down to Caerphilly station, but its part of a new trail that connect's from the Taff trail through to Rhwuderin Nr Newport.the route you are looking for is route 4 of the Sustrans National network. Have a look athttp://www.sustrans.org.uk/sustrans-near-you/wales/valleys-cycle-network to try and sus out the route. http://www.tafftrail.org.uk/ hope this helps Jim H |
