This weekend, Yorkshire played host to the ‘Grandest Grand Depart’ in the 111 year history of the Tour de France. You too can experience riding through the spectacular landscape of ‘God’s own county’, by taking part in the Harrogate Sportive. Harrogate was central to Yorkshire’s part in the 2014 Tour de France. An estimated 100,000 spectators, including a few VIPs, filled the town centre for the finish of stage one. Working with Cycle Yorkshire and British Cycling, Epilepsy Action has developed the Harrogate Sportive. Together we aim to build a lasting legacy in the region and increase cycling participation. This is a non-competitive ride and has a long route (72 miles) and a medium route (33 miles) available. Anyone is welcome to take part. However, we do have a minimum age of participation of 18 years old. Prices start from just £23. Event includes: • Free finishers’ T-shirt • Scenic route • Participant timing • Baggage storage facilities • Drinks stations • Refreshments • First aid • Signposted route • Downloadable, GPS device compatible route As our very own cyclosportive, all the money raised through this event will go towards improving the lives of the 600,000 people in the UK living with epilepsy.
