| Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and relatively new to cycling - 1 year. I am keen to do 100miles and have set myself a target of this september and am training accordingly - currently at 40miles. I am struggling to find a sensible route that is relatively flat to give me a better chance of completing. Any suggestions? I am doing it with a friend and we are happy to do on our own rather than with a scheduled event. I am in warwick(midlands) but happy to travel if needed

| I know the island of arran is 100 miles round it but its fairly hilly at bits, all the best with your 100 mile attempt. The most i have ever cycled is 60 mile but i will push it up another notch soon :)

| Thanks 'happy' for the suggestion and i will take a look at this route. Ideally i'd like the 100miles to get me back to my start point so turning around at 50 is a good idea. I am not sure what this route is like but the link gives it a difficulty rating of 8/10 which doesn't fill me with joy :-)

| I'm sure the 8/10 is just a reflection on the distance more than anything, remember if you are thinking of doing a century, you would pretty much have to be very fit.
It's certainly a challenge, I'm sure you could do it :)

| I can recommend the Manchester 100 in September (bike-events.com). It's well organised and a good flat course around Cheshire. I did it for my first 100 last year and was surprised at how well I did! Enjoy.
