Is Dublin to Galway in 3 days is possible? And is this route suitable?

Once I arrive in Dublin, I'm thinking of cycling to galway as it doesn't seem that far away - and I like the idea of cycling across the great nation of Ireland :) My plan is to go along the canal from Dublin to Tullamore, and then to Shannon harbour. Where I will make my way on the roads to Galway ---> most likely following something like this (someone elses route that I managed to find online): http://www.mapmyride.com/ie/birr-l/day-3-shannon-harbour-to-galway-route-71342710 I understand that I will be going against the wind, and I believe I'm an average cyclist. But would this most likely be possible in 3 days? And would you say this is a good route to follow? I've found a few people talking about the canal, but I've read nothing about shannon harboue to galway - making me suspicious about doing it. Also if anyone has any advice / recommendations about crossing ireland, then I would immensely appreciate them! As I have no experience with cycling at all in Ireland. Many thanks for any replies given, Rob |
