The problem I've had is that the original tire on the back wheel of my bike has gone out of shape (lasted over 1250 miles) and I'm in need for a replacement. Hopefully, this tire is a good make and is low resistance but if anyone has any other tires that they'd like to recommend please feel free to do so - the faster the tire the better! |

It will have an ERTO number, the inside or rim diameter of the tyre followed by the size of the tyre in millimetres. If your tyre is a metric 700c size it will have 622 followed probably by a 25 or 28, i.e. 622-25 or 622-28 (which looks like the size of the vitesse bicycles tyre in the ebay photo of the URL that you have given) Note you will get a much better deal from www.cycleplus.co.uk who sell this tyre for £5 cheaper at £21.99 or £40 for 2 tyres. If you want a tougher but slightly heavier tyre for commuting, I would reccomend the Schwalbe Marathon. I have these and havent had a puncture in 2 years and 4000 miles. You can buy this tyre at cycle plus for £14.99each as its their most popular tyre with cycle tourists for a hardwearing puncture-proof tyre. The continental gatorskin is a hardwearing reasonably punctureproof lightweight tyre but is more expensive to produce as its made in Germany, as are the Schwalbe tyres. I hope that this is helpfull, best wishes for Christmas, John.lumley |
