Planning a 3-4 day ride from London Euston (getting the train down) back up to the general area of Stoke on Trent or North Midlands. Before planning one, has anyone ridden it (or part of it) before and knows a decent route that doesn't just follow A roads?

Hiya Steve,
I've recently started using ridewithgps.com to plan my rides. It does require free registration but is well worth it. You can use a number of different map displays and access streetview, it also gives an elevation plot.
Once you have entered your start and end points it allows you to drag sections of the route around so you can avoid main roads, steep hills etc. It should be possible to plan individual sections end to end so you can plan daily routes and get an idea of where you'll end up at the end of the day.

Hope this helps you out,

Cheers

Chris
