Hope I am not breaking any forum rules here. If I am, then please tell me and delete.

Have organized a whole range of on and off-road cycling tours focussed on South West Turkey.

Just a cheeky thread to 'test the water' to see whether anyone would be interested (either as an individual, group or club) before going to otherwise unnecessary expense of advertising an undesirable product.

Please feel free to PM me or e-mail me direct on lordwizlon@yahoo.co.uk

Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Simon

Yes we are interested. My wife and I would like to follow, as closely as possible the route of the crusaders across Turkey and through the Silesian Gates by bicycle.

We would go alone if there was information available on road conditions, detailed maps of minor routes and a list of hotels, B & B and hostels on the route. We have done the Santiago Route from Valence in France twice and last year did Prague to Budapest via Vienna.

We would also go as part of a group.

Thanks all for posts so far.

Would love to help organise the cross Turkey ride, but I have to be honest and say that although I have friends who could help us with that route, I am not personally familiar with some of the terrain.

Please pm me if you want any more details or could be a little more specific about numbers you would be willing to ride with etc.

If there was sufficient interest, I could arrange this, because I know quite a lot of people with families from the areas which you would be passing through, but would need some time.

Should you decide to do it yourself, please please please seek out some Kurdish guides or advice. If only for your own security and safety of mind.

Thanks for mentioning Sherpa to me. I have researched them and most other companies and nobody else is offering what we are doing.

Explore/Exodus do one up from Cappadoccia to Istanbul and Sherpa do walking in Northern Turkey. There is nothing down here on the Lycian way.

Thanks again all,

Simon

I've spent three years in Turkey, cycling whenever holidays allowed, now I have realized I'd like to see more cyclists on the Turkish roads, so I started writing a blog with the hope of encouraging more people to visit TR and bring their bikes along.

Simon,
I have read through your posts with interest! I am a keen cyclist (road and mtb) in my early 40s and will be moving to Kalkan for a couple of years at the end of Feb 2012. Was intending to explore that part of Turkey on my two bikes and log the riding on my Garmin 800. Am very keen to hook up with other cyclists in the region. Would love to hear from you.
Regards
