safe route between waterloo and kings cross stations?

Hello, I am trying to get across London, from Waterloo station to Kings Cross station, with my bike and am imagining that I can't use the tube! Is cycling my best bet and if so does any body know a safe route? Thank you.

There is a good cycle route planner at www.tfl.gov.uk. Go to journey planner > advanced options; enter start and finish stations and click the "cycling" box. Their routes are not the fastest but prefer quieter side streets

I too am looking to cross from one London station to another and stumbled on this request. The route planner on the Transport for London seems first rate: I've got a clear route mapped out for me now. Highly recommended! Thanks.
