route needed from nottingham to east midlands airport

Joined: 03 Jun 2010 Posts: 1 Bike: | Hi I work at the airport and live close to trent bridge, i was hoping someone knew of a route i could take to work as I really want to avoid using the A453 as not the safest, i can get to trent lock easily enough as all i have to do is follow the trent, but any other help or advice would be appreciated, thanks for looking |

Joined: 29 Apr 2010 Posts: 6 Bike: | I found a route from Nottingham to Loughborough that is not too bad via Kegworth The road past the church in Kegworth will take you to Long Eaton and then you can follow the sustrans route which takes you to Nottingham, you can get to the railway via the canal station station. The only bit which is not too good is where you have to cross the river sawley? Route into nottingham goes in via Beaston. Not sure its the quickest route but its fairly trafic free. Kegworth Sawley Long Eaton Attenborough Beaston Nottingam The b6540 over the river is the worst part due to the narrow bridge and the amount of traffic Hope that helps if you find a better way over the river let me know |

Joined: 02 Aug 2011 Posts: 1 Bike: | From trent lock you keep following the path to sawley marina, Then you cross over tamworth road and follow tamworth road until the b6540 roundabout and take a turn down london road for around 3 minutes. you will come to a sign post for castle donnington where you cross the road and takes you past donnington lane.Follow lane until you come to round about, follow station road in and past donnington. Carry on this road going straight up hill road called bonbondgate/ high street. Follow to top of hill and you can see the runway for EMA take road called hill top road around the bend to the EMA entrance. This route is about 20 miles from attenborough so from nottingham will be around 25-30 miles and take around 2 hour from town to East midlans airport. |
