Joined: 17 Jun 2010 Posts: 1 Bike: | Hi all,I,m setting off to spain{newhaven diepe].I,ve not had much time to prepare.I,m going on an old claude butler road bike.I,m got to get hold of a cheap light tent and a stove.My route will develop as I go.I will have my compass and a map.I need to buy some bags also.Any tips and advice would be very appreciated.Happy cycling.Nick |

Joined: 24 Jun 2010 Posts: 1 Bike: | Advice on bags, if you can possibly afford them get Ortleib, they have a roll top design and that never lets in the weather. After having loads of different panniers that all let me down, I've had a set these for 15 years with no leaks, no problems and they also have a very clever catch to attach them to the rack. I have cycled from Spain to England some years ago and can tell you that at the end of a wet day in the saddle you will NEED dry stuff! So after the bike the bags are the top priority!
