West Bridgford to Derby

Hi im looking to cycle to derby from west bridgford, ive seen its pretty easy to avoid busy roadsuse cycle lanes once you get onto cycle route six as shown in one of the cycle routes on this site, but wondered if anybody had any advice for getting onto that from west bridgford avoiding busy roads if possible which looking at it on the map doesnt look likely!
