Sustrans 62 : Speke to Stockport - Surface?

Hi

We are 10 cyclists routing from Speke Airport to Stockport [and on to Barnsley and Hull]

Has anyone got info on the sustrans route 62 between Speke and Stockport....surface ok for road bikes?

I'm not so sure from speke onwards! But I've done Southport to runcorn via speke many times and you need mtb tires or cross tires for large sections as its along canal paths or old railway in a lot of areas. I wouldn't do it on my specialized sirrus road bike I'd use the mtb everytime!!

My Profile 		a lot of the route from Carrington to Stockport is best suited to MTB or Hybrid with 700/35 minimum, also take care around the Parrs Wood area (that's about 2-3 miles before Stockport) they are building a new Station for the Metrolink and diversions are in place.
